Amberley School and St James School
Amberley School (near Storrington) is part of a Collaboration with St James School in Coldwaltham. This means that the two schools share a Head Teacher who divides their time equally between the two schools. This arrangement started in January 2005. The positive benefits of the collaboration have been to preserve the atmosphere and ethos of the village school whilst broadening educational opportunities and experiences for each child. Sharing resources, capitalising on staff expertise, sharing visitors for curriculum enrichment and also providing a broader base for social contact with a larger peer group are all benefits of our Collaboration.
At both schools children, teachers and parents know that there are high expectations of them in all aspects of school life. We are committed to an exciting curriculum that interests, includes and engages all the children and we know that learning must be enjoyable. At Amberley School we are also fortunate to be able to offer small classes for all year groups which enables a high level of individual attention for all our pupils.
Our Christian ethos encourages kind, thoughtful, responsible behaviour and within supportive communities like ours everyone's contribution is valued.
Amberley School is part of a local group of Schools called STARS, the Storrington Area Rural Schools.
STARS is a group of local schools in the Storrington area which work together to benefit all our pupils. They organise events such as sporting opportunities which can be for any year group and it gives our pupils the chance to mix with children from a range of schools in much bigger groups.
