Teamwork, Positivity, Honesty, Kindness, Respect

In Oak class we love learning. We work hard and always try our best. As the 'top' class in school, we always strive to model our school values to the younger classes. We believe kindness is the key and we encourage each other to never give up.

What are we learning this term? Click on the link below... Spring term overview 2026  Autumn term overview 2025

Our highlights

Spring Term 2026

As part of our Science learning this term, we have been learning about light, how it travels, reflection, refraction and prisms. We made periscopes to investigate how light bounces from a reflective surface into our eyes. We investigated the angle of the mirrors in order to make the periscopes work!

Autumn Term 2025

We visited Wakehurst and learnt about sensory approaches to gardens. We made Christmas trees out of dried leaves and added our own honeycomb stars on top! We were also lucky enough to have snow!

As part of D&T unit, we learnt about food technology and seasonality of different produce. The children then designed, tested and created their own soups, learning how to use use knives and peelers safely too!

Our School Carol Concert has become a much anticipated hihglight of each year! The children love learning traditional Carols, attempting to sing the descant parts as well as enjoying festive favourite songs. We are fortunate to be able to do this in our wonderful local church of St Michael's.

Spring Term 2025

We had Perform visit us in January for a Drama workshop. Can you see us re-enacting Arthur pulling the sword Excalibar from the stone?

Autumn Term 2024

We had a special guest visit us: Antosh the poet! He helped us to plan and write poems using nature as our inspiration. The poems were titled, 'count'. Some of poems were recorded and made into a 'Soundscape' which can be heard via the Arts Society website:

Summer Term 2024

As part of our learning in History, we have been learning about the importance of Arundel and how it has changed over time. We had a guided walking tour all around the town and then visited the museum to find out about life in the past in Arundel and how it is today!

This term, in geography, we have been learning about the different biomes of the world and ecosystems. Recently, we walked to our local pond to study the ecosystem there and record all of the creatures we could find. We learnt how to use different field-study equipment such as: light and moisture meters; quadrant markers; insect collectors and pond dippers.

Spring Term 2024

This term, we have been reading 'The London Eye Mystery' by Siobhan Dowd. We then visited the London Eye for first-hand experience! The weather did not dampen our spirits and we had the most incredible time!

Autumn Term 2023

What a fantastic Autumn Term we have had! Here are some highlights below:

As part of our Science learning on Space, we visited Chichester Planetarium.

Planetarium visitWe had the History Man visit us as part of our learning about Ancient Greece and we created some fabulous art work of artefacts. (pictures to follow).

We have been reading the book, 'Who let the Gods out?' by Maz Evans and used it to inspire some fantastic writing! Watch this space for publications!

We have also learnt how to carry out market research to aid our design of a biscuit in D&T: we can't wait to make them and taste test them!

Earlier in the term, we worked as team to create the highest tower using only classroom objects!
