Spirituality Day 2024
On World Thinking Day this year, we decided to also think more spiritually. We came together as a school to discuss what spirituality is and what it means to different people. In our House groups, we had time to reflect on our 'Mirror Moments' (our relationship with ourselves); 'Door Moments' (our relationship with others); 'Window Moments' (our relationship with the world) and 'Candle Moments' (our relationship with something greater than ourselves).
The children had the opportunity to reflect on the different 'Moments' and it was wonderful to see the older children supporting the younger children. All the children made us very proud, embodying our School Values of: Teamwork, Kindness, Respect, Positivity and Honesty.
Mirror MomentsThe children looked at themselves in a mirror and drew their outer-selves and their inner-selves by reflecting on how they are on the inside, their likes and what makes them unique. We also connected this to nature and our world and what they liked about the world.
Door MomentsFor this activity, the children reflected on how they could connect with others and world we live in. They drew around their hands and cut them out then wrote on them something they would do to help the world. We then created a 'tree of helping hands' display.
Window MomentsThis was an opportunity for the children to 'think big' and ask 'big questions'. The children came up with some fantastic questions! We discussed how these sort of questions don't often have an answer and how that is okay!
